Course Aim: This qualification is designed to enable learners to develop an ability to communicate with Deaf people using British/Irish Sign Language in a range of familiar contexts, participating in longer and more open-ended exhanges than at Level 1. The course will develop functional communication in BSL/ISL about a range of real life, routine, and daily experiences.  The learner will be able to deal with most routine language tasks and have sufficient grasp of grammar to cope with some non-routine tasks

The specification has been designed to be consistent with the National Language Standards at Level 2

CACDP Level 1 Certificate in Developing Awareness & Communication with Deaf & Deafblind People

Course Aim: CACDP Level 1 Certificate in Developing Awareness and Communication with Deaf and Deafblind People is designed to give learners a basic knowledge and understanding of deafness and deafblindness, including some practical advice and basic skills for communicating with deaf and deafblind people.It assumes no previous experience or knowledge. 

Candidates are assessed by a combination of a multiple choice paper, and a simple practical assessment. Successful candidates can progress to CACDP Level 2 Certificate in Communication with Deaf People, Level 2 Certificate in Communication with Deafblind People and Level 2 Certificate in Communication with Deafblind People (Manual).
